Off late there has been a rise in the making of short films. Right now shorts are hot! They are a rage in YouTube. Regional languages are making scratches in this arena, and I feel proud to say that directors and production houses in Bengal are making an effort to gain prominence over here.
Most of the short films are either about love, thrillers or have a social message. There is absolutely no complaint about these genres and it is totally fine to explore them, but a dearth of other emotions can be noticed.
This film, Satya Dar Coaching, deals with one such emotion which has not been taken up by many directors. Dr.Krishnendu Chatterjee, the director, has done a good job of sprinkling the right amount of fun, spook and heart into this film. Not preachy at all, this film will definitely take you down the lane of nostalgia. The entire film, all of 25 minutes is very crisp. Very well shot, well scripted and not too stretched. I am not going to say anything more about the plot because saying anything about it would be a total giveaway and that would steal the fun of cherishing this film.
To talk about the cast, Mir Afsar Ali aka Satya da, is such a well seasoned actor, that it is always a pleasure to watch him. Not an expression out of place. Riddhi Sen and the other two boys have done pretty well. Riddhi is an experienced actor so he was undoubtedly good, but seemed a tad bit too adult in places where his kiddish innocence needed to be more prominent.
SOC verdict would be to definitely watch the video here.
